The Brides of Dracula VHS (1960) – MCA Universal – 1992 Release – Hammer Horror – Peter Cushing – Classic Vampire Film
Sink your teeth into a classic of gothic horror with The Brides of Dracula (1960), one of Hammer Film Productions’ celebrated vampire movies. This 1992 MCA Universal VHS release brings the atmospheric chills, eerie castles, and supernatural menace of Hammer’s golden age of horror to vintage home video.
The story follows Marianne Danielle, a young French teacher traveling through the countryside who finds herself stranded near a remote castle. She is offered shelter at a nearby school for young women, but soon discovers that the mysterious Baron Meinster, a seemingly charming nobleman, is being held prisoner by his own mother. When Marianne helps him escape, she unknowingly unleashes a terrifying vampire who begins preying on the women around him. Vampire hunter Doctor Van Helsing must intervene before the growing evil spreads.
Directed by Terence Fisher, the film stars Peter Cushing as the determined Doctor Van Helsing, alongside David Peel as Baron Meinster and Yvonne Monlaur as Marianne. Although Dracula himself does not appear, the film expands Hammer’s vampire mythology with its striking gothic visuals, memorable performances, and sinister atmosphere.
For collectors of classic monster movies, Hammer horror, and vintage VHS releases, this MCA Universal edition is a great addition to a shelf of supernatural cinema from the golden age of gothic horror.
