Desperation Rising - VHS Used

Desperation Rising (VHS, 1989) – Jason Holt – Rare Cult Action Thriller – Legacy Home Video

A bizarre, underground shot-on-video cult film from director Jason Holt, Desperation Rising (1989) is a fascinating piece of obscure home-video history. Released on VHS by Legacy Home Video, this gritty independent action thriller features a dark world of drug dealers, prostitution, violence, shootouts, and unpredictable characters.

The story centers on Angelo, a drug-dealing gang leader who operates a secret basement room known as the Red Room, where women are held for prostitution. Blending crime drama with strange, disjointed storytelling and rough-edged independent filmmaking, Desperation Rising is the kind of obscure late-'80s discovery that appeals to collectors of underground cinema and unusual VHS releases.

Directed and written by Jason Holt, the film stars Nick Cassavetes, Tally Lauriti, and Jason Holt. With its unconventional presentation and distinctly low-budget aesthetic, this release is an intriguing addition to a collection of obscure cult movies and forgotten direct-to-video oddities.
