This 1997 MCA Universal Home Video Widescreen Edition was significant because it was the first U.S. VHS release to present the film in its original 2.35:1 theatrical widescreen ratio, rather than the cropped pan-and-scan presentation used on earlier VHS editions. The letterboxed presentation preserves more of Lynch’s original theatrical composition.
