Family Plot VHS – The Alfred Hitchcock Collection – Classic Mystery Thriller – Bruce Dern, Karen Black

Experience the final feature film directed by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock with Family Plot, a twisty mystery thriller that blends suspense, dark comedy, deception, and kidnapping into an entertaining game of cat and mouse.

Blanche Tyler is a phony psychic who earns her living giving readings to unsuspecting clients. When wealthy Julia Rainbird offers her a substantial reward to locate a long-lost nephew, Blanche and her boyfriend, George Lumley, begin investigating the man’s whereabouts. Their search leads them toward Arthur Adamson, a successful jeweler with a dangerous secret. Arthur and his girlfriend Fran are professional kidnappers who demand valuable diamonds as ransom. As the two couples’ lives become entangled, mistaken identities, criminal schemes, and Hitchcockian twists threaten to unravel everyone’s plans.

Starring Bruce Dern, Barbara Harris, Karen Black, and William Devane, Family Plot showcases Hitchcock’s signature suspense alongside a playful, darkly comic tone. With a screenplay by Ernest Lehman, based on Victor Canning’s novel The Rainbird Pattern, this 1976 film holds a special place in cinema history as the Master of Suspense’s final completed feature.
