House of Terrors - Blu-ray

House of Terrors (Blu-ray, 1965) – Mondo Macabro – Hajime Satô – Justin Coffee – NEW

A recently widowed woman discovers that her late husband owned a remote country mansion. When she and a group of friends travel to the mysterious villa, they encounter a strange demonic statue and a hunchback caretaker who tells them about the numerous murders that have taken place there. Before long, strange noises, disembodied laughter, and an unseen presence begin stalking the guests.

Directed by Hajime Satô, House of Terrors is a rare Japanese Gothic horror film heavily influenced by the atmospheric horror cinema of the 1960s, including Mario Bava and Robert Wise. Shot in striking black and white widescreen, the film combines haunted-house atmosphere, bizarre characters, supernatural mystery, and classic Gothic horror. This Mondo Macabro release marks the film’s first U.S. release and world premiere on Blu-ray.
