Kids (VHS, 1995) – Larry Clark – Unrated – Vidmark Entertainment – Cult Classic
Larry Clark’s controversial debut feature Kids is a raw, uncompromising snapshot of teenage life in mid-1990s New York City. Following a group of teenagers through a day of skateboarding, parties, reckless decisions, and street life, the film captures a world of youthful recklessness and consequences with an intentionally gritty, documentary-like style.
Written by Harmony Korine, Kids features early performances from Leo Fitzpatrick, Justin Pierce, Chloë Sevigny, and Rosario Dawson. Its unfiltered portrayal of adolescence sparked controversy upon release and helped establish the film as one of the most talked-about independent movies of the 1990s.
