A cult entry in the 1980s action-exploitation wave, Malibu Express follows private investigator Cody Abilene, a wealthy playboy who is hired to uncover a high-tech espionage ring operating out of California’s glamorous Malibu coastline. What begins as a routine case quickly escalates into a tangled web of murder, betrayal, and corporate conspiracy, all set against sun-soaked luxury estates and coastal danger.
Directed by Andy Sidaris, the film is known for its blend of spy-thriller plotting, action set pieces, and exploitation-era styling. It also features one of the director’s frequent collaborators, Sybil Danning, who appears in a supporting role emblematic of Sidaris’ “L.E.T.H.A.L. Ladies” aesthetic.
