The Believers VHS (1987) – HBO Video – Martin Sheen – Helen Shaver – Occult Horror Thriller

Enter a terrifying world of ancient rituals, secret societies, and supernatural evil with The Believers, the 1987 occult horror thriller directed by acclaimed filmmaker John Schlesinger. Starring Martin Sheen, Helen Shaver, and Robert Loggia, this chilling film blends police procedural suspense with dark religious mysteries and disturbing supernatural elements.

After the tragic death of his wife, New York City police psychologist Cal Jamison moves to the city with his young son, hoping to rebuild their lives. When a series of mysterious child deaths appears connected to ritualistic practices, Cal becomes involved in an investigation that leads him into the shadowy world of an underground religious cult. As he uncovers increasingly disturbing secrets, he realizes that the investigation may place his own family in grave danger.

Based on Nicholas Conde’s novel The Religion, The Believers delivers an unsettling atmosphere, occult intrigue, and a slow-building sense of dread. This original-era HBO Video VHS release is a great addition for collectors of 1980s horror, supernatural thrillers, and obscure occult cinema.
